Horses are individuals and some will require less feed to put on or maintain weight than other but there are guidelines.
A mature horse or pony in light to moderate work requiries 2kgs of feed per 100kg of bodyweight per day, of which no more than 30% should be "hard" feed (e.g a 500kg horse requiries a total of 10 kg of food per day)
Never overfeed, especially feeds with a high sugar or protein content.
Introduce any new feed gradually to allow the micro flora in the digestive system to work efficiently.
Always make sure fresh clean water is available.
ORIGINAL & GARLIC CHAFF
Can be used in conjunction with straight cerals, coarse mixes or cubes to increase the fibre content of the feed.
It will ensure that feeds are eaten slowly, to help improve digestion, which allows maximum nutrition to be absorbed.
For horse or humans with respiratory problems or when good quality hay is not available, it can also be used as a full or partial hay replacement.
Garlic Chaff is beneficial for horses suffering with sweet itch or respiratory problems and will also act as a natural fly repellant.
